Insights on Boston section 8
Hi BP community,
I’m a Boston-based owner (Dorchester) working to place a Section 8 / Housing Choice Voucher tenant in a 3BR unit and wanted to learn from others who have done this successfully in Boston.
For those with experience working with Boston Housing Authority, Metro Housing Boston, or similar programs:
- What has worked best for sourcing quality voucher tenants in Boston?
- How do you typically engage with Section 8 case managers or housing coordinators?
- Any lessons learned around inspections, RFTA timing, or pricing to speed up placement?
- Have you found working with agents helpful in this space, or is direct outreach more effective?
This is my first time navigating the Section 8 process as an owner, and I’m prioritizing getting this right and avoiding common pitfalls.
