Finding A Mentor

Finding a Mentor
I want to cover the topic of how to find a good mentor. There has been lots of talk about this topic over the years on the web and as we heat up again in Real Estate I thought now would be a good time to cover it again.
Ok, so you read a book that told you how to get rich in Real Estate with no money, or you went to a free one day class to show you all the secrets of how to be rich in a few short weeks or they tried to sell you the 10k package after or during the class but, only for the first five people that go to the back and sign up. If all this sounds like the stuff you are hearing these days you are not alone. I have heard it all too and wanted to let you know what I did to change it for me and others.
#1 Don’t buy stuff under pressure just because you think that a good deal is going to get away.
#2 Don’t buy anything without doing your homework on the company and how long they have been around. Sounds easy right but people are buying on impulse all the time. It is only a deal if you use it and it has value!
#3 If it is a person and not a company do a search. Look online under google, yelp, youtube and others to see what they have done and what others think.
#4 The cost of training someone is based on if it is one on one or via computer program. It is all about the time that that mentor puts into the student. Time is money for a mentor that does deals every month because they could be closing an escrow verses going over contracts with someone new. It should be no more than 5-7k for a good mentor to teach a student from start to finish how to do a deal. At that price the student should get tools to help them down the road as well ( title portal, swipe copy, templates and so on).
#5 A mentor can not guarantee you a deal or success. Only you can do that, so always know that it is up to you to push threw the road block that you come up against as you hunt for the next deal. I wish everyone a great year ahead and hope to see you at the escrow table…Keith Boley Mentor and Founder of www.reiwealthacademy.com....
