Financial freedom booklet?

Question

Hey guys! Is there a really small booklet that give a good outline of financial freedom? I’m trying to get my wife interested but any big finance book overwhelms her and she stops reading. I’d love a small booklet that wets the appetite for financial freedom. Thanks everyone!

Hi @John OConnor, I started watching Mike Zuber on One Rental at a Time on YouTube and my wife has been thrilled with the content. He has a daily financial news that I watch and my wife asks me questions about how real estate can lead to financial freedom.

It can be very difficult to separate the wheat from the chaff in this space. There are, unfortunately, a lot of unscrupulous people who are perfectly happy to take your last dime and give you nothing in return.

Might she be more receptive to podcasts, YouTube videos, or audiobooks? How does she like to learn? What does your idea of financial freedom look like?

I recommend you share the youtube videos. There are summaries of the books in animation or even narratives that are interesting to watch.

It should be something intrinsic. Ask her what would she do if money and time would not be an issue. How does that feel for her to do what she loves to do? And then ask let's see when we can get to that point where money and time are not an issue and let's work toward it.

I think it all really depends how involved your wife wants to be. For example, my wife is in the medical field and really enjoys what she does, and trusts me to make the majority of the financial and investment decisions. I keep her in the loop of course, but finances simply are not something she is as interested in. Is there a specific reason that you want to get your wife interested in the concept of "financial freedom"?

Perhaps find the angle of money that actually interests her.  Maybe it's business ownership, real estate, personal finance, or taxes.  Start with her interests and eventually she will arrive at financial freedom.  As for authors I like both Robert Kiyosaki and Dave Ramsey.  I prefer RK of DR.  DR seems to generate a cult like following and some of those people can come across as very arrogant.  RK aligns with my values more.  Both are great places to start.  Dave offers a course called financial peace university.  It's an 8 week course and sets a good foundation.
