I have some credit card debt and I'm wondering should I try to clean it up first.

If you can't manage your personal finances well, you likely won't manage your investment finances well.

So, if your credit card debt is related to poor money management (as it often is), you should probably work on your budgeting and money management skills prior to getting involved in an investment.
