Accountant- Local? Non-local?

Hi all,

I am looking for an accountant in New York.  I live in Long Island (melville) and was wondering if you have any recommendations?

I was also wondering what everyone's thoughts are on using an out of state accountant?  Should my accountant be local to me or does that not matter?

Most CPA’s can work across state lines. The main consideration should be engaging a CPA who specializes in real estate. Industry specialization trumps geographic proximity.
