Paying My Rent With A Check

An older friend of mine recently told me that me paying my rent every month with a personal check instead of a money order will have a positive effect on my credit. Anyone ever heard of this??

This is probably what your friend is referring to:

Paying Rent on Time May Improve Your Credit Score
Experian is now giving more renters the opportunity to report the payment history.

Used to be that rental history could only hurt you, not help you. Now you can opt in to a reporting program that debits your rent payments from your account.
