How are courts functioning for evictions currently in Worcester?

Question

I may end up in an eviction situation in a few months and want to plan for it. How long are courts in Worcester MA running for evictions now? How much have they improved since Covid restrictions? I had one last year that took 12+months to finally go to trial after a lot of mediation and Covid payments etc.

Hi Jack! I unfortunately haven’t had to deal with an eviction in our county yet (knock on wood) but have learned about the mediation services through a Masslandlords event a while back. Have you tried using the mediation services with this new tenant and if they agreed to try it as a first option before an eviction?

I had an eviction at the end of last year and it was much easier. After filing, I had a mediation within 3-4 weeks that ended up resolving the issue. I got money back and didn't have to go to trial. I also did the filing and notices myself. Now I Obviously don't know the details about your situation but are you working with a lawyer that is known and respected within the Worcester court system that also specializes in evictions? It definitely makes an impression. Also, since you have time, maybe you can also try some other techniques to get them out or negotiate with your tenants (If you haven't done so).
