Increasing rent for Section 8 in Houston, Texas 77082
Hi All,
I currently own a two bedroom with a loft, 2 bathroom townhouse and rent it by way of Section 8 for $875. Ive had the tenant in the property for a few years now and would like to raise the rent. I have a management company that downplays the option of raising the rent in fear that the tenant may not be approved for the additional cost and may move. What shall I do since HOA monthly cost has gone up for me and I would like to recoupe the cost as well as make a little more? Is there a way to see what the HHA will approve or shall I just keep with the same rate because the tenant has been in good standings.

@Tony Duran your property manager seems reluctant to raise the rent, so why are you taking their word for it as to what Section 8's policy in Houston is now? I would by pass the PM altogether at this point and call Section 8 yourself and verify what you are being told is true. Your PM is striking me as self-serving, which is a far greater issue than being $50 below market rent......If you learn that Section 8 will in fact pick up the extra $50/month, that phone call is time well spent.
