split architecture layout homes

Hi,
I recently saw some split architecture layout homes. I see they are cheap. Also some people said they are desirable by the tenants. I see like 10-20 steps to reach the front door of those homes. I also hear people talking like Split-Level, Split-Foyer / Bi-Level, Raised Ranch then 2 floors. Some wholesalers say it is not split level home but online search says so and vice versa. Is it better to avoid buying these split level homes for rental and investment purposes? I also see lenders also look down upon these houses and less resale value in future.
Please advise.
