Wheelchair Ramp Install/Payment

Garrett Morgan
Posted

I own a rental property in Memphis, TN. My tenant recently informed me that she may need to start using a wheelchair and has requested that a ramp be installed for access to and from the house.

As the landlord, am I responsible for installing/paying for the ramp, or is this something the tenant would need to handle?

Absolutely NOT. You must approve her request for accommodation to allow a ramp, but the cost of installing, constructing, AND removing when she vacates is entirely hers.
