Getting Rent Directly from Employer

Has anyone ever tried getting their rental payments directly from an employer?  I know I can split my paycheck however I want for direct deposit.

Does this work with bank accounts that don't belong to the employee?

I ask because I would love to have direct access to a portion of their paychecks before they spend it on some "unique" items that prevent timely payment of my rent checks :)
