Solar as an Income Stream

Most use solar energy to reduce their expenses but is anyone using their photovoltaic system to increase their net income? I'm looking for examples.

It's a great question. From what I understand, PG&E pays you annually if you've provided more electricity to the grid than used. The hitch is that the rate they pay you is far less than the rate they charge. You'd likely have to install a ton of panels to come out even in the long run. But I haven't done the math. Perhaps it can pencil out.

@Nick Jensen  thanks but I'm thinking of something different - like charging a tenant slightly lower rates than market for the energy they consume. There should  be a good margin between the cost to produce and market rate.
