Hello All, I am just starting out renting my first property. I was just curious what the consensus is or best advice is regarding property management? Do most of you go it alone and manage it or do you use a property management company? If you are going it alone what are good resources to cover all your bases and legal issues. For example tenant applications, rental agreements, credit/background checks, etc? Thank you very much in advance.

HI Mark, self managing is not that hard especially if you only have a few properties. But I would suggest that if your going to do this that you take the time to make sure you are familiar with the local Fair Housing, Discrimination, and any applicable Property Code laws. Those are things most people dont think about that can get them in trouble. If you know those and run your rental like a business with strict guidance and adherence to your policies and procedures you will do great! Good luck
