Sealing Grout - Yes or No?

In general, is it best to seal grout in a rental property or not?

For that matter, would you seal grout in your own property?

I've heard that sealing tile grout doesn't allow moisture to evaporate, which can lead to tiles being cracked.  

Does this change for tinted grout? or ceramic tile?
