Ever heard of wind farms?

Question

Another landowner told me that he was approached by an outfit seeking land for the installation of windmills or windfarms as they call it.  Anyone ever heard of this?

Yep. I see them in California all the time. Definitely cool. I hope to see a lot more of them. The U.S. is late to the party on these. Actually, I'd love to own land that rents to wind farms and or solar farms.

I believe the cheap oil/gas we are seeing now will be gone very soon. The cartel just announced production cuts, too.

I am very interested in this also. There is A LOT of land open in Kansas, not to mention it gets very windy. But can to much wind be a problem, small tornados every year some big ones every few years...

Milwaukee is in the middle of the wind belt, isn't it?  Probably a good place to have a wind farm regardless of the temperature.  The wind still blows when its -2, doesn't it?

Do these wind farm developers contact you, do you have to know someone, or can you solicit them as tenants?  Are you better off investing in a company that provides this service or speculating on land that has the potential to become a wind-farm.  Sounds harder than finding a good tenant in the dead of winter in Milwaukee (-2 yesterday).

                                    Links are perfectly acceptable as long as they don't run afoul of three forum rules:
                                    
                                    1) No affiliate links.  Linking to some site where you're getting paid or credit of some sort for driving traffic to that site is against the rules.
                                    
                                    2) No advertising on non-ad forums.  If the link takes someone to your own site where they might buy something, that's an ad.
                                    
                                    3) No poaching.  Don't link to other RE investing web sites.
                                    
                                    The syntax to make a hot link is:

                                    [ url=URL ]link text[ /url ]
                                    Drop out all the spaces.  The first displays the URL in a clickable form.  The second displays "link text" in a clickable form that will take you to URL.

The site allows links . . . just not self serving ones.  This is now the third or fourth conversation that you've complained on regarding the site's rules, Caitlyn, and in doing so, have hijacked yet another conversation. Had you posted a link to this "wind farms of the future" link, we would NOT have edited your post or removed your link.

I found a site titled "Illustrated History of Wind Power Development" that is fascinating!

They're popular in Germany, but Germany's a lot smaller than the US and it's an easier infrastructure to create.  Their aesthetic quality is debatable.  They tried to build one in Massachusetts but a few congressional democrats stopped it as it would interrupt their view of the landscape.  I'm curious as to why New Hampshire doesn't build some to service the Boston metro area.
