Granite Transformations or Granite for Kitchen countertops?

Hi all,

This is my first rodeo in rental business :)

I am renovating a 2 units and was wondering if anyone had experience putting Granite Transformations. They are few hundred more than the cheapest granite but offer 10 year warranty. I saw the samples and I do like them. I would like to know your recommendations. I am mostly concerned about durability of the product and warranty experience in case I need them to honor their claims.

@Percy N. yes, the kitchen cabinets, appliances and the countertop are going to be white based.

It's actually costing a lot more than the cheapest of granites (comes out a few hundred $ more as it's a small kitchen).

However I am not sure how you count it as inferior to granite? It is 95% granite + 5% polymer, engineered so it does not need yearly sealing like granite and it is stronger than granite. I agree that it doesn't look as good as some higher end granites but it does have a uniform look. Also it comes with lifetime warranty and they will also fix small scratches etc for free.

I have decided to go for it. Will post updated once the job is done if someone else is interested.

The reality is a product that is inferior to another should be priced lower right? There is a trade off to what you're getting so the cost should reflect that shouldn't it? For a product like that it would make sense if you were saving 30-40%, but doesn't make any sense if it's costing you almost the same or more for the actual real thing.

This is more of a upper-end type of rental. Not very high end but I am trying to attract decent renters :) So was leaning toward granite or similar counters.

Hi, I go with nice laminate counters from Menards, they're cheap and tenants love the assortment of colors available, better than the plain jane ones I see alot of landlords in my area using
