Boiler inspections by the government

I was contacted by the ohio department of commerce yesterday who said they need to inspect all my boilers.  This is the first year I have owned this complex and I noticed their stickers from previous years near my boilers (baseboard heat powered by natural gas).  I know my question is governed by state/local regs, but is this a common requirement?  I've never had to go through this.
