can I sue the neighbor who started the fire?

the neighbor who owns their own property was gone to work one day when a friend of theirs was visiting started a fire that got out of control (also was no fires allowed at the time) and burned the buildings on the place I am renting. Now I have been evicted and was allowed a very short time to try to clean up the whole mess and move. I am being sued now and I think I should sue the ones who is responsible.

Thank you please let me explain. I guess I felt in order for me to try to make you understand the situation I used myself as the "renter" in this and it was not. I am watching this happen as I live across the way I am friends with both sides but I feel that the responsibility of the negligence is being overlooked.  The one whose has been evicted is being sued by their landlord because of the mess from the fire and all his things left and was not able to be removed in the time allowed. so wouldn't this fall on insurance from property owner responsible. ?

Why are you responsible for cleaning up the mess?  Something is missing from the story.  I thought there were laws against evicting for damage to property not caused by tenant?

Hi Hannah. Sorry to hear about this unfortunate incident and hope all is okay for now and that no one was injured. I'm a little confused as to why you are being sued though? You may want to elaborate for others who may be able to chime in can get a better understanding. Most, though, will tell you to consult with an attorney (or two) immediately to see what options are available. That way at the very least you are informed. However, I will yield to other members that may be able to assist you with this matter.
