Renters Insurance Issue

I am currently a renter, I had a drone battery that caught on fire. The fire cause damage to some carpet and foyer tile. My insurance is claiming that if the battery was a defect that they will not cover the damage cost that the apartment complex will charge for the repairs. The question is, will this be on me to pay for damage and why?
