Tenant Claims Plumber Stole Tools

I received a phone call from a tenant who is moving out at the end of the month saying the recent plumber I sent out to the property has stolen his tools.  I highly doubt the plumber is guilty of this acquisition, however I am seeking advice on how to handle this situation.  I gave the tenant the plumber's office phone number and I told him I will check with the company on Monday.  The tenant also, says half a case of beer is missing....(maybe they drank it and forgot?)  The tenant let the plumber in the house to service the problem in the basement, so they were at the property. However, I doubt they kept an eye on the plumber while he was in the basement.  As I mentioned, the plumber is a very reputable company.  They have done work for me before and I have never received a complaint. What do you recommend I do?  Is there any liability that may fall on me?
