Denial Letters for All? ...or Credit Issues Only?

How do you handle sending application rejection letters?

I do not send out letters, etc. If  an applicant follows up and they don't meet the criteria, I let them know they didn't meet criteria. If they ask in what regard, I let them know since I have decision-making reasons noted on every app.

Do employers still send denial letters to applicants? Not in my field.

@Mark Douglas if the rejection was based on a credit report then you should send an adverse action letter to the applicant for those situations.  Here is more information:

For other rejections where the rejection wasn't based on the credit report then I don't believe the letter would be required, just some type of simple notification.

@Mike Cumbie  thank you mike! *google search* haha it seems awfully time-consuming to have to send a letter to each person..I'm picturing the larger 100+ complexes....  I'll look further into this for TN requirements.. thanks !

Hi @Mark Douglas,

That is going to be based upon your area on what is required. I know some places require that you include why they were denied and others require nothing. Sadly I do not know your area enough to give you a good response.

Make it short and simple. Don't give a reason. Just simply you have been denied.
