Air BnB and VRBO on rough street

All,

I have couple of properties in real rough street that do not qualify for section 8 (rest of the street is too rough AS IS   to qualify for section 8... too many boarded up houses). Due to the beltline project several houses on the street are been demolished/renovated/rebuilt in the next few months. I need to do something profitable with my houses  for 6-8 months ... till all the rest of the street renovation complete.  I would like to make some short term rental on Air BNB / VRBO. I notice now they also do monthly rentals on their web sites (intended to rent for 2-3 months)... which would be ideal for me. I realize my properties are not  really what the typical customer wants. I can rent these properties to low level tenant for some time, but Air BnB and VRBO sounds more profitable and probably providing better tenant. I know that 99% of the Air BnB and VRBO are not happy with my streets, but I was thinking that there might be a 1% that it is if I price my properties 50% less price than the rest of Air BnB and VRBO offer. Please let me know if you have ever done this experiment and how did it go and what you learned....
