no key to internal lock provided
Hi,
I am a landlord and a tenant and I've had a situation where my son, I think, who's two, locked an internal door, after which I found that we were never issued a key for. We were given keys and told they were for all doors in the apartment. We never lock that door.
On contacting the landlord was told we're responsible for the locksmith. I disagree as we were never provided a key to that lock, and whether it was by accident, mechanical failure or otherwise we never had a means to unlock that door.
I understand the
argument if we had lost a key or we're told no key existed on move in (although in latter case should have been rectified if known problem.
But I, as a landlord, would not hold my tenants responsible for something they were never given.
What say you?
