Move-in dates for newly selected applicants

How do most of you go about selecting a move-in date for your chosen applicant? Do you tell them they need to move in immediately once you have chosen them as the accepted applicant? Do you wait until the first of the upcoming month? Just curious what most of you are doing, or what the "standard" method is. Thanks in advance.

@Anthony Barbato , when is the property available? Be wary of anyone who NEEDS to move in right away. Sometimes it's for a legitimate reason, but other times it's because they're in the process of being evicted, or they want to ditch their landlord.

Also, someone who wants to move in before the 1st of the month may ask for prorated rent. Have them move into the property and pay the FULL month of rent and any deposits you are charging, then charge them the prorated month in month 2 or 3. You don't want to give possession to someone for $50 and then spend $500-$1000 evicting them.
