Looking for landlording steps from A to Z

I expect to purchase my first tenant occupied rental property ( out of state) before year's end so I'm looking for information on landlording. Ideally after I purchase how do you introduce yourself to tenants, collect rents, takeover security deposits from prior landlord. Thanks in advance for all replies.

This is a very broad topic and one that you may not find all the answers on this thread. A couple of recommendations.

1: Search the forums for specific answers to each questions you asked above. For example "how do I introduce myself to tenants?" See this thread among others...

Search for "best way to collect rent" and you will come across multiple threads on the subject.

2: Pick up a good book that teaches you the basics of Landlording. I have read one and I have heard another one recommended a lot. I read Brandon and Heather Turner's 'The book on managing rental properties.' It is excellent and a good start to the dos and don'ts of this business plus it has a treasure trove of landlording documents you will need as a bonus content (of course check with your state laws before you implement any of them).

I have heard good things about 'Landlording on Autopilot' but I have not read that.

Best of luck and welcome to RE investing.
