Can anyone provide some feedback regarding a Section 8 inspection and what is involved? Do they test for lead paint and require deleading prior to occupancy?

They don't test for lead paint, but may ask you to get areas tested if there are peeling areas. If your house has lead paint, but it is painted nicely and not peeling you will be fine. You main objective with section 8 is to make the house safe for tenants. Outlet covers on, smoke detectors, CO detectors, doors working, windows working, electrical wiring not exposed at all from the ground up 4ft (even in a garage or unfinished basement), GFI's in bath and kitchen, railings, etc. The Section 8 office should have a list of commonly failed items the can give you.

You will fail the first inspection - they always fail you. Make sure you have enough time to make the repairs they call out before the new tenant is supposed to move in.
