Tenant screening: was overseas, SmartMove shows a recent check
I am renting out the ADU behind my home for the first time (my first tenant came with the house when I purchased) and am seeking some advice on tenant screening.
I see Landlord Solutions did a credit check about a week ago, but the applicant is still looking for a place. So I'm wondering if she was denied and what they saw that I don't.
She's spent the last 15+ years living overseas working for the Department of Defense, so I'm struggling with doing the background check. She has indicated that she lived in the same apartment for 13 years, but I'm not able to call the landlord to confirm and her credit report (mysmartmove) only shows APO addresses.
I will call her place of employment tomorrow to confirm her work and income.
Anything else I should consider?
