75k income will rent for 1k vs buying?

Supposedly a family that makes 75k will rent for $1017 vs buy under the new tax laws because at that point and lower, renting is financially more advantageous. Not here, because no family making 75k would dream of living somewhere that rents for $1017...one bedroom or a total dump. Where does a nice 3-2 rent for 1k? Not Detroit suburbs evidently. Certainly not Austin, Tx.
