Help with landlord laws

Hello BP, I have a coworker that rents in San Ramon California. His landlord has “popped up” out of the blue to check on the property five times within the last two weeks unannounced. Does anyone know what the landlord laws are in California in terms of how long he has to give the tenant before he can come over. Any links for helping out my coworker? Thank you everyone!
