Matching appliances in a rental?

Question

For lower middle class rental area, do you need to match brands if you're getting new appliances for the kitchen (everything was ripped off by the former owner). Or is just matching the color okay?

I use whatever I can find that is cheap, works, and looks good.  I do stick with white, but don't worry about brand.  For that matter, even in my own house, they don't match.  I have a maytag range because they're the only one that made a double oven range when I bought it and a kenmore fridge because they're the only one that made the french door fridges when I bought it.  I've stayed in half million dollar condos on vacation that had mis-matched appliances.  OTOH, they had lanai's that you could look straight down from and watch the sea turtles, so I guess the appliances weren't the main attraction.

I don't think it's ever a necessity to match brands (except for the faux stainless, because it looks different from one manufacturer to the next) - just match the colors wherever possible.  Many rentals don't even match the colors - whatever used appliance they can get cheap enough gets installed.

I wouldn't worry about it with anything below an upper end rental. All my tenants just want the appliances to work, none have cared that the stove was white while the refrigerator was almond and/or the dishwasher was black.

Of course, that doesn't mean I'll go out of my way to find avocado or something! Whenever replacing appliances, I do try to match color, but that's after all other things being equal, e.g., price, quality, availability, etc.

I used the same brand and color because I happen to get the best price, they match in color exactly, and they same company provides service for them.

I agree, matching brands is almost always unnecessary. Even in my own home, I have a kitchenAid dishwasher and GE Profile fridge and stove. Color matches are more important.

Try and find good but used appliances, don't worth about matching them.  Tenants in the mid to lower range are more worried about them working than them looking good

Home depot is having an appliance clearance sale in my city right now.  You can get electric ranges with digital controls for $250.  I dont use many electric, or I would stock up.
