Security from someone other then tenant

My tenant rented the property. Her girlfriend gave me the security even though she is not the primary tenant. The check was in the girlfriends name not the tenant. Who gets the security back? The person I rented to or the person who had there name on the check?

@David C. I would get a release signed by both of them stating who should get the check.
