Mold Inspection Results... Scam?

Any mold experts out here? I have a beach rental in southeast North Carolina that had a plumbing leak inside.  One of the bedroom carpets got pretty soaked with water from a cracked bathtub.  We ID'd the issue, the tenant stopped using that bathtub temporarily and we put a commercial grade dehumidifier in that bedroom to dry it out.  A few days later the tenant complained that he was having flu like symptoms and was concerned there was a mold issue due to the brief water damage. We scheduled an air quality test and the "contractor" pulled up in a run down vehicle and broke out his air inspection equipment.  He took a baseline sample outside and then a sample from the affected bedroom.  He was fairly disorganized and it took about two weeks to get the results back.  As soon as the report got sent to me, I got a call from a sales person saying the mold levels were dangerously high and he tried to sell me a fairly expensive, DIY mold remediation kit.. My gut is telling me that it is a scam.  There is no visible signs of mold inside and the humidity is at an ideal level (30-40%). We are in the process of repairing that bathtub and there has been no other water damage inside.

Does anyone on BP have any experience with this?  Any advice? There has been an influx of sketchy contractors in this area ever since hurricane Florence and I am worried that I got dubbed but I am also very concerned with making sure we take care of our tenant.

Tell the contractor to pound salt . Ask the tenant if he’d like to get out of the lease and then just find somebody else . This mold stuff is ridiculous and 99.9% of it is harmless .
