I want to scan my receipts, starting with this year, and store them on a jump drive.  Any better way to do this...  such as, should I keep them in folders by month....  by project....  by vendor (ie Home Depot stays together, utilities stay together....)  Any advice would be great!!  Also, anyone have a scanner they really love!!????  Thanks!

Good advice all around here.

Many of our clients use Google Drive, Dropbox, or Evernote. For receipt tracking Shoeboxed and Expensify are good.

You may want to have separate folders for each of the following:

  • Bank Statements
  • CC Statements
  • Property Management Statements
  • Mortgage Statements
  • Deposit Images
  • Check Images
  • Receipts
  • W-9's
  • Closing Documents
  • Contracts
  • Leases
