Who pays Realtor one rental

Question

Ok on my first rental I payed the realtor fee. Is that how you it works .when I rented  my place I payed .so I was wondering how everyone  does this. The next time I want to have to pay.

I paid  750 pre unit.

The realtor is paid by whoever hires him or her, OR as mutually agreed upon. If you hire a realtor and expect the renter to pay him, make sure he is clear so he can put it in the ads. If you don't use a realtor but one calls you with a tenant, he will need to make sure you are willing to pay him or he will tell tenant that he must be paid. If you don't wanna pay him, you are under no obligation, but he may not bring the tenant to your property.

@Brian Prudden just out of curiosity, how much did you pay the realtor to rent the unit for you? Was it a full month's rent or a certain percentage?  Thanks in advance.

You don’t need a broker to list your rental property If your local.  You can list it yourself on Zillow, Hot Pads, Trulia craigslist, etc.  If your out of state you can use your property manager.  In my area, most landlords list there rentals themselves.
