"Scam This House"
I have a house, owned and rented comfortably for quite a while now, which recently began to mysteriously produce renter prospects to the doorstep of the house. My tenants were a bit freaked out, naturally.
Turns out, some scammer apparently pulled my info from an ancient Craig's List ad I'd posted years ago, and created a dummy ad at mynewplace dot com.
I've had scammers reproduce the Craig's List ad before, but this transposition of data to another rental ad site was a new one.
Anyone having a similar experience? In the end, I sent an email to the website admin and had the bunk ad withdrawn. My poor tenants!

I've seen where they are taking it a step further, in regards to the work they do (they being the scammers) and they get an e-mail address like gmail or yahoo that utilizes the owners name that is on the tax roll, so they appear to be the owner. such as mike.smith at gmail.com or "smithmissionaries at gmail" or whatever. I guess if I lived in Nigeria I'd do what I had to to make a buck...or get a ticket out of there!
I jacked with a con person from UK and still have a copy of the bogus cashiers check. He asked if I got the check, and I told him I did, but next time he needed to use a heavier paper, as this seemed to be on 22lb paper. One con said his daughter could meet me, so I asked if she was hot. "She is a very pretty young lady.." Then I started taking it from there to have fun..he went along for a few e-mails then I started to feel creepy...yikes!
