Does anyone have experience with purchasing small multi-family properties that are professionally managed with the intention of self managing? I need some advise on how to go about transferring management.

@Devin Creek in my experience, most "professionally" manged buildings aren't operating that well. If you are responsive the tenants will probably be thrilled that you are taking over. If you don't want to come across as the owner, you may set up a separate gmail account that sounds like you are a management company. The only issue is that the tenants get confused about paying the owner/the owner's LLC instead of the "company". I am doing this for a 19 unit building I self manage in Berwyn, IL, and it has worked out great.
