Section 8 Odd Dilemma

I had a tenant whose 17 year old child was busted at school with a small amount of weed (enough to use, not enough to distribute). I am fairly certain it is the first criminal offense for anyone under the roof of the home.
There's a hearing in a few days to determine if the entire family will be removed from the program.
To add more detail, the child still has not had a court date, been convicted or pled to the charges. I would at least think there would have to be due process before they could be thrown completely out of the program.
It's hard to believe a 17 year old's mistake could get his entire family thrown on the streets.
Has anyone been in a similar situation? Any experiences would be appreciated

That is such a stupid move by the kid, it is upsetting.

Your family is on public assistance, and their housing is contingent on you not doing any stupid like GETTING BUSTED FOR DRUGS.

So don't get busted for drugs. Jeebuz.
