Section 8 Payment Problem

I'm having problems with a group of s.8 homes I purchased in Apr. I have existing s.8 tenants and when I closed I filled in the forms to change of ownership and change of payments to the various section 8 HUD offices. I am in the third month and I not received any payments. I have been chasing them every week and they just give me a bunch of excuses and now they are not even responding to me, including the director of the section 8 housing.

I'm not sure what I can or should do. Has anybody been in this situation?

I suggest you contact the Regional Hud office in Kansas City to the Inspector General as a possible fraud issue with the old owner receiving payments. You are only making an inquiry because you have not received payments for three months (it does take time, but should not take 3 months). Your position should be that you'll terminate the agreements due to non-payment as well. This should take a couple weeks and the executive director will get a letter of inquiry or a phone call to motivate him/her.

You can also look up the comissioners of the PHAs/Sec.8 Admins and bring the matter to their attention to get their offices moving along.
Be tactful, but concerned and they will work with you.....they need all the Sec. 8 Housing owners they can get! Good luck
