Chronically late rent payments

Posted

Hi, I'm a tenant who is constantly late with payments. Definitely it is on purpose. I used to make the payments on the first but the time the bank opens clashes with the times I have to be at work or its a weekend. My landlord has us deposit the checks in a bank account every month. I'm never late more than a few days because I pay it on that day off after the first. I have never missed a month. I dont complain. she communicates with me as easily as I do to her. I understand that it has to be paid on the date agreed and I've tried to reach out to the owner about my work schedule. She didn't say it was a problem but now she's complaining (she wasn't before) because we have an expired lease. I'm just looking for advice because I dont really want to leave but I dont want to be harrassed about a few days late.

Simple, pay it BY the due date. It doesn’t have to be paid on the first, just on or before that date. So if the first falls on a Sunday and you can’t get to the bank on that day because it’s closed, or you can’t get to the bank on Monday because you work, pay it on Saturday. Problem solved.
