Property Management Company not a good fit and am trying to term

We engaged with a PM company 3 months ago to rent out our SFH, but have found them exceptionally unresponsive to communication and lacking any updates on what they are doing to market the property.. very frustrated with delayed and super vague answers on even if we are getting any showings... I asked to terminate the contract and although they apologize for the very poor communication, they are sticking to the term of the contract that states they get a half months rent for termination within a year... is this normal? Anyone have success negotiating out of this? Would love any opinions or advice!

YUP closed their account and are gone at least under that handle.
