Tenants Pay Utilities

I am looking to offer on a multi family property. Currently the owner pays electric for each unit (10 total). Each unit is separately metered and I would like to get them to pay for electric themselves. Looking for advice on how to effectively and tactfully make that happen. Thank you.

If the tenants are month-to-month, changing who pays utilities could be as simple as sending them a 30 day notice of a change in terms of tenancy advising them that they’re now responsible. However, if there’s a lease in effect, you’d have to honor it and you wouldn’t be able to make any changes to the terms of the lease until it expires.
