Overuse of texting

I've noticed this time around the applicants are texting more, often without even "introducing" themselves (they just start asking questions, often things that were covered in the ad). One person did a blow by blow of where they were (on the way to the appointment) that ended being about 10 texts.

Frankly I find it can be faster and easier to have a real phone conversation without all this tit for tat. I've started texting them (politely) to call for a showing.

Am I just getting old or do I have a point?
