Landlord / Tenant Laws book?

Question

Hey guys, Im looking for recommendations to get familiar with landlord tenant laws as well as basic lease agreements. does anyone know of a book of guide that has some information on this i can follow?

@Ramiro Rodriguez NOLO and anything by them is sufficiently boring but has the information you need. Browse their website. I’m a big read the book over any other media dirt kind of guy but the Website isn’t as painful to read and has some good links to keep you going once you find a subject you want to study.

I hate the Nolo website with all it's bouncing, flashing crap.  BUT, they're books are great, written by lawyers.  Well, the tax one is a tough read, but the California landlord book was my bible.  They also have contracts and forms in the books, if you're in one of the states with a dedicated book.  Anyway, here's their landlord book page.  They also have leases you can create online, too, I think.  I just used the ones in the book in CA.

Many states have a guide covering landlord/tenant laws/regulations. A google search should turn up what you need. You only need to be familiar with the state(s) you plan to have properties in. The laws vary a lot from state to state and sometimes even jurisdictions within the state. ie, some large cities have their own regulations in addition to the state laws. Then of course there's the Federal fair housing rules put out by HUD. It's good you're looking for this info as it's vital to know your local/state laws so you can stay out of hot water.

NOLO's Every Landlord's Legal Guide.

Has laws and rules for all 50 states. Also, comes with forms needed to run your business.  I have used these very forms, albeit modified slightly for 17 years.

@Ramiro Rodriguez This is best answered by a local real estate attorney. But, you can check out the BP book on rental property management. It gives great advice on what laws may be in place but equally as important, how to treat tenants. Hope that helps!!
