Property Insurance Inquiry

Alejandro Cortes
Posted

Let me elaborate my question. We were wondering if, in case of a small problem arising in one of your properties you would rather find a quick fix and avoid contacting insurance or going through the fuss of contacting them and risking an increase in your insurance price the next period.

Feel free to reach out, comment with any feedback or additional info that you think might help us find answers. Thank you!

I keep a $5000 deductible. I’m not making a claim under $10,000. With 14 properties, over the last 20 years I’ve made a $30k water claim 10 years ago,I ate a $5500 water problem about 5 years ago, and recently a $1500 water problem. I’m saving about $3,000 a year for the higher deductibles plus whatever I’m saving for having only 1 claim 10 years ago.

A no claim history/discount is more important in 10+ properties than 1-2. You don’t want 10 premium increases for one claim.
