Replace all doors in the house ?

Question

I am renovating an old house for rental and one question keeps coming back is whether to replace the old solid wooden doors with the new cardboard doors ? The door knobs of a few needs replacement and as they are not the standard thickness can’t use the new privacy knobs. Does it affect appraisals if the old doors are painted and used ? I think old doors can last much longer. What do you do for your properties?

For me, if the look and feel of the house is more modern and/or updated, I replace. The thing with new doors though is usually the labor to trim, install, mortise is much more than the door costs lol

I like solid wood, but it depends on their condition and the size.  The solid wood will be more durable in the long run.

We were going to replace all doors in a 40's home as the originals were some wood then veneer panel & had taken a beating or were cracked. People like the 6 panel white doors so it was a given.But some of the doors were odd widths & often 74inches in height so removing the framing was the only option. As we replaced the entire doors & frames we were able to increase the door height & widths to a better 32"-36". We even found the original front & rear entry doors were only 30 inches wide, so we tore them out as well. On another property we found the entry door to be 44" wide & the door slab 84" high??

I often pick up the 6 panel doors from Lowes for $25/$45 with some nick or damage or a frame issue that can be repaired, sometimes with just texturing the door surface with drywall mud.
