Experience with Tenants Vaping

I'm curious to hear if any of you have had a negative experience with tenants vaping. In my opinion, in the over 20 or so tenants we've had in our 3 rentals by far the most damage ever caused was by a couple who both vaped in a small one bedroom cottage we rent out. They lived there for 2 years and when they moved out every

surface was covered with a greasy yellow coating, and the minisplit was

filthy and had to be taken apart and cleaned. Every inch of the entire

house had to be scrubbed and painted, blinds replaced and some of the

windows scraped with a razor blade because the coating was so bad.

Obviously they were vaping a lot, and this is a small space but I've

never seen anything like it. We just switched tenants again and had

to do a professional two coat repaint because in some areas

discoloration came through the paint we put up when they moved out - after cleaning the walls. We just decided to have the

property manager add no vaping to the lease as well as no smoking and

that's why I was here searching for info. I'd love to hear your experiences.

@Emily Boyfish I've not had any experience with tenants that vape but I know that it would mostly depend on how often they vaped, the type of the vape juice and the size of the room or ventilation in that area. If the size of the room is smaller and if they vaped frequently, an oily residue is most likely to appear on surfaces.
