Any Bank Garnishment Success Stories?

Hey All. I'm going through and eviction process and have decided to garnish the tenant's bank account. Yes, I realize this is a gamble with crappy odds. However, I felt it was my civic duty to document this scumbag's credit history and, at the very least, protect a future landlord from doing business with this dude. Does anyone have any good success stories as a result of doing this?

I did it with the very first tenants that rented from me.  Mother and daughter team.  They snuck out one weekend and left a giant mess.  It was amusing what they took and what they left behind.  The silk flowers had to go but the bank account statements/unused check books weren't important; same with dads death certificate that I found amongst the garbage.

They also were kind enough to leave their new lease behind so I knew where to have them served.  After winning my case in court I filed against the mother for bank garnishment since the daughter worked in South Carolina where individual garnishment is not allowed.  Got some of the money back but this was limited as mom claimed MOST income as Social Security and that was not garnishable to individuals.

Lessons learned....in order for bank garnishment you need to know where the tenant banks and their account number.  Some tenants pay their rent via check.  For those that do I make certain their bank name, account number and routing number go into their folder; just in case.

In addition, check to make certain your state does allow bank garnishment (or garnishment at all).

I have successfully garnished wages but have not levied a bank account. Have you had any success?
