I just closed on my first rental property but it’s out of state. I want to install security cameras and locks on the property and have been looking into different options. Does anyone have practical experience using Ring style cameras or competitors?

I have used three different brands of security cameras, including Ring. I currently have a Ring security system and camera at my short term rental. If you are doing security camera and security system, Ring is a nice ecosystem. They are backed by Amazon who owns them. I use Schlage smart locks that are wifi connected. The locks can integrate with Ring, but I manage them through the Schlage app.

Just be aware that you will need internet service, although the Ring alarm wil connect over cellular when wifi is lost. I pay $99 a year which allows me to have as many Ring cameras connected to the cloud and provides monitoring for the security sytsem.
