Eviction and tenant employer info

Wendy Maynard
Posted

I am in the process of evicting a tenant for cause. He has changed the locks and won’t let me in for an inspection to see damage that he has caused to do his own drywall “repairs” (my 5 year old could do a better job). I have only seen a photo he sent me. He has also stopped paying rent.

Once I get him evicted, I will need to go in there to see what his damages will cost me to make right. So I will be taking him to Small Claims for rent he hasn’t paid and damages.

I know he is currently employed so is it ok to call the two places he is currently working to verify employment (I’m not intending to say anything about the eviction of damages) so I can find him once I move out?

Also, during the eviction trial, can I ask the judge to get a forwarding address for the tenant since I know I will be taking him to Small Claims (I can’t say anything about costs right now because I can’t access the unit).

Thanks

luckily dry wall repair is inexpensive....  but i strongly suggest reading up on  this https://www.oregonlaws.org/ors...    and also look into your specific cities rules too as they may add on to this state law ie portland for example)
