Capital gains when Renting basement?
We’re having an investment property built that we are planning to live in for a while, build equity in and then sell. We also are hoping to rent the basement on AirBnb. How does that work with paying capital gains on the sale? If we rented out the basement 50% of the year will we need to live there at least 3 years to avoid capital gains? Thanks in advance!
